People
with decision making deficits show knowledge but not feelings. Their cognitive
functions are intact, but not the emotional ones. They have normal intellect,
but are unable to make appropriate decisions. A dissociation between
rationality and decision-making is observed. The alteration of feelings causes
a myopia towards the future. This can have neurological origins, but it can
also be caused by the use of substances, such as alcohol and heroin, which
affect the solar plexus (ie the compass of the heart).
