When Hitler refused to pay war debts, neither Britain nor France made any claims. Furthermore, the Reichsbank, the German central bank, was now a private central bank. In May 1933 it was given a loan of $1 billion and the cessation of payments of old debts and in June England assigned $2 billion. Thus, the Nazis got what the Weimar Republic failed to achieve. At the same time, the Nazis received the most modern technologies from the United States, including military patents by the American companies Pratt & Whitney, Douglas and Curtis Wright which were used to build the Junkers-87, the military bombers that the Luftwaffe used during the Second World War. The close economic and financial cooperation of the Anglo-Americans and the Nazis was at the basis of the policy that led to the Second World War.
