Malthus’ believed that the planet is overpopulated. However, if we consider that the amount of land and resources needed to feed a meat eater are 600 times greater than those needed to feed a vegetarian, we see that the planet could easily support a population of over 100 billion people, and if we add the fact that desertification is often the result of the intensive production of fodder for animal farming industries, we come to the conclusion that the planet is at the moment underpopulated.
