The
strong involvement of the autonomic nervous system, in anxiety disorders, can
be used to diagnose such disorders. For example, in 2005 a team of the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem, headed by the Dean, Sorega Hermon, has shown the
possibility to diagnose anxiety disorders calculating the levels of the
acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) enzymes in
relation to age.
