People
with decision making deficit show knowledge but not feelings. Their cognitive
functions are intact, but not the emotional ones. They have normal intellect,
but are unable to make appropriate decisions. A dissociation between
rationality and decision-making skills is observed. The alteration of feelings
causes a myopia towards the future. This may be due to neurological lesions or
to the use of substances, such as alcohol and heroin, which reduce the
perception of our inner feelings.
