Drug treatments are generally used for major depression. Major depression affects 25% of men and 45% of women. [1],[2] However, the cause of depression remains unknown and treatments are limited to symptoms. Depression quickly becomes chronic, a trait that will accompany the person throughout the entire lifetime. Over 80% of people treated pharmacologically show a substantial continuity of depression.
